Benefits of Massage Therapy

There are many different benefits of physical therapy. Here are a few reasons why you may want to reach out to us to schedule a consultation:

  • Reduce or even completely eliminate pain caused by damage to soft tissues and joints.

  • Improve mobility issues caused by injuries, arthritis, or other conditions.

  • Work with an expert to determine the best mobility exercises or tools for your needs so you get the maximum benefits of those exercises/tools without the risk of injuring yourself further.

  • Physical therapy is a non-surgical option that can relieve pain without the use of medication, making it ideal for those who do not want to take pills or undergo a procedure.

  • Overcome balance issues so you can reduce or even eliminate your risk of falling.

Physical therapy can help you manage a variety of vascular conditions, diabetes, and various age-related health issues such as osteoporosis. It can also help with cardiac rehabilitation following a stroke or a heart attack and even reduce the risk of lung disease.

We provide various types of physical therapy. Our team will work with you to determine which is the right form of treatment for your unique situation. Each type of physical therapy offers different benefits:

  • Pediatric PT is designed for children and can help them build up muscle or relieve the pain that can come from hitting a growth spurt.

  • For elderly patents, geriatric therapy helps individuals deal with common issues that tend to affect older people. It also helps them learn how to compensate for injured or weakened muscles, regain balance, and improve mobility.

  • Neurological physical therapy helps patients who have neurological issues related to the spine or brain.

  • Cardiovascular physical therapy improves the heart, the cardiovascular system, and the circulatory system.

  • Vestibular rehabilitation is designed for those who have lost their sense of balance due to vertigo, inner ear issues, or other problems. It helps strengthen the leg and back muscles to improve steadiness.

  • Orthopedic PT focuses on repairing or mitigating the long-term damage from certain types of injuries, including a sports injury.

What You Can Expect

When you schedule an appointment for physical therapy in Fort Collins, you may not know what to expect. If you’ve never had physical therapy before, you may even be concerned about what it will entail or if it will be painful.

The first thing you will do is meet with one of our team members for an evaluation. If your primary care physician recommended you seek out a physical therapist, they may have already sent over your medical records. Even if they have, we will still want to talk to you about your pain, mobility issues, and other conditions that have pushed you to visit us. We will also do a physical examination and may even order additional testing. All of this is done to make certain we know all of the underlying issues so we can build the right treatment plan.

Once all of that is done, we will give you a formal diagnosis and explain exactly what has happened to your body. Once you understand the issue, we will outline how physical therapy helps with the type of injury you have. We will work out a schedule for your physical therapy sessions.

In some cases, you may need to come to our office once a week or even several times a week to start with. During these sessions, one of our staff members will work with you on exercises. We may also give you some exercises to work through at home. At first, you may find that these exercises do leave you feeling a little sore. However, they should never cause pain. If they do, immediately let us know and stop doing the exercise. You should feel like you have worked the target muscles, not injured them.

As you gain strength and mobility, we may reduce the frequency of your sessions with us. Eventually, you may only need to exercise at home. We may want you to come in periodically for a checkup. If you have a chronic condition, of course, you may need to continue to come in for sessions as needed.
